on january 19, 2024, the institute of shijiazhuang fruit research organized a facility strawberry tasting and observation meeting, more than 60 people including relevant technological personnel attended the observation.
researcher yang lei, director of the strawberry research laboratory, gave a comprehensive introduction of the strawberry team, targeting 3 research directions: winter promotion cultivation of facility strawberries, summer strawberries breeding, and strawberry processing. the strawberry team has obtained a batch of strawberry varieties with independent intellectual property rights, and has established demonstration bases in the surrounding areas of shijiazhuang, as well as in cities such as handan, xingtai, hengshui, baoding, tangshan, and qinhuangdao, according to different application types. the promotion scale has been increasing year by year, the self cultivated new strawberry varieties are rapidly being recognized and accepted by the market.
the on site introductions of 17 new varieties and superior strains of jixiang, jijiu, hongxing, yuzhu, with different colors, shapes, types, and flavors, were showed to experts. representatives from all parties tasted the new strawberry varieties (strains), and strawberry planting representatives from various regions such as changli, xinji, laishui, and jingxian gave speeches, especially praising and recognizing the local trial planting performance of the two new strawberry varieties' jijiu 'and' jixiang 'in terms of the quality, yield, storage and transportation tolerance, disease resistance, market benefits, and other characteristics. they all expressed that these two new strawberry varieties have huge development potential and will be planted and promoted on a large scale in the future.
